Councillor Mike Davies
Mike is married, with a daughter and is a retired former Civil Servant, living in Miskin since 2001, having spent 37 years working for variants of the Department For Work and Pensions in a variety of roles, firstly In Aberystwyth, then South Wales, London and Leeds.
Educated at Dinas Secondary Modern School, and College of Further Education, Aberystwyth, Mike decided after initial enjoyable forays into selling fruit and Vegetables and as a milkman, that the Civil Service offered the rewarding career he sought, and subsequently moved to South Wales, where he met his wife.
Mike spent a number of years working within the Change Management and project environment, on national initiatives, which provided a varied and interesting workload. Mike ended his career as a DWP Fraud Investigator, managing a team of investigators, tackling Benefit fraud in the RCT area. A highly rewarding role, helping to significantly reduce abuse of the benefit system.
Having a keen interest in rock music, Mike still plays guitar with a pop/rock band who often play charity events to help raise funds for good causes. Mike enjoys a wide range of sport, although these days this is watching, not playing and is a regular season ticket holder with Cardiff City FC and the Wales National Football team. Mike also enjoys gardening, recently getting back to growing fruit and veg.
